New Self Service Software at the three Suffolk Libraries
Library users in Suffolk benefit from new look self service.
A new generation of self service software is making life easier for staff and visitors at Ipswich, Lowestoft and Bury libraries in Suffolk. The LibStar software has been developed by D-Tech to improve self service flexibility and performance for libraries.
The self service option is available to library users at the three libraries via D-Tech's ICE self service units: 4 at Ipswich; 6 at Lowestoft and 4 at Bury.
Marvin Crisp, Managing Director, D-Tech says: "LibStar gives libraries a high performance software combined with a competitive price. Because it has been developed by us we've been able to retain a keen price point making it very attractive to libraries when specifying their library security and self service. LibStar is British, it's reliable, and it's high performance. I think the very positive feedback we have received from Suffolk libraries confirms our thinking that LibStar combined with the ‘cool' ICE self service units makes a very appealing package."
The range of options includes sound, video, cash audit, payments by phone, credit card and smart card with full remote configuration tools to update changes on one machine or all machines from one location.
A 50 language facility was particularly attractive to Ipswich library who is keen to attract a new audience from its increasingly multi-cultural community.
The ‘cool' ICE self service units, in clear green perspex, with 19" touch screens, are also proving to be very popular with staff and users.
Marion Harvey, Assistant Library Manager says: "They brighten the library and make the library look much more modern compared to the other machines we had. They attract teens because they like the touch screen technology and the ‘cool' look of the ICE units. The self service also means that librarians are freed up to do other jobs in the library and with over 2,500 visitors a day that is a real bonus."
