New colour changing RFID gates at University of Worcester

D-Tech has completed installation of its RFID self service systems in the The Pierson Library, University of Worcester.

The University had re-designed the ground floor of the library to create a more open and user friendly space. Self service has been introduced to maximise use of this new space and provide an improved service for students and a nicer, ambient working environment for library staff.

D-Tech used their knowledge, and experience to help the University design and implement all aspects of the RFID installation.
Tim Pond, Business Development Manager, D-Techs adds “We were also able to demonstrate additional connectivity offering the University more secure functionality through system integration with Talis Bridge Pro.”

Two Sapphire, RFID self check units are located in the main entrance alongside dual aisle, hybrid (EM and RFID enabled) antennas. Another self check unit with returns mode is incorporated into a desk top and interfaces into a staff returns processing area set behind a feature wall.

A Sapphire unit in the short loans and reservations area is accompanied by D-Tech’s new single aisle, colour changing, Plexi gates (with gate tracking). Best described as bringing together function and fantasy, the colour changing gates become a feature of the library design rather than a ‘hidden utility’.

D-Tech also supplied and installed its ‘Enterprise’ thermal imaging people counter, in the library main reception area.

You can see D-Tech’s self check units and the new colour changing gates at this year’s RFID Conference.
