D-Tech welcome Bibliotheca at RFID Conference 2008

Marvin Crisp and Tim Pond from D-Tech were pleased to be joined on their stand by Barbara Strebel from Bibliotheca in Switzerland.

Bibliotheca RFID Library Systems ranked second in RFID library providers worldwide and D-Tech is the sole distributor of the BiblioChip™ RFID System in the UK.

Once settled back at her desk in Swtizerland we asked Barbara for her feedback on the event:

What was your overall impression of the Conference?

The conference was very interesting to me for two reasons – to see all the UK RFID suppliers and also to follow the conference topics. It was really good to understand to hear about RFID from different viewpoints – librarians, architects, consultants. I could catch up with some ideas which are important to us as an RFID supplier in order to build on our position in the UK market.

Which presentations did you find particularly interesting?

The most interesting for me had to be about the new ISO 28560 standard. The Norfolk Library presentation was interesting because of the way that they involved end users in the decision making process. This is a relatively new approach but I think a very good one and an idea I shall take back to Switzerland with me.

What about the venue?

I was impressed to see all those beautiful and meaningful buildings when I left the underground station, although it was a bit difficult to access to set up the stand.

Any thoughts you took away back to Bibliotheca?

Yes, certainly. It was good to have direct contact with librarians and decision makers on the D-Tech stand and by talking to them and also listening to the presentations, I learned a lot more about what the UK market is looking for in terms of RFID. These sort of events are always the best way to get a feeling of what the customer’s need are.

Marvin Crisp adds: “We were very pleased when Barbara accepted our invitation to attend the Conference. She is our day to day contact at Bibliotheca and this was a great opportunity for her to meet and hear key people involved in RFID in the UK. With so many visitors to the stand it was also very useful for us to have someone who could offer their own product knowledge and expertise. I am sure delegates also found it useful to be able to talk to her about Bibliotheca in the context of RFID installations in Europe”.
